Back to None of Westerners saw Japanese killing civilians in person

He was among the US journalists with Chiang kai-shek/Soong mei-ling.

Durdin had written many articles about Nanking before the battle started, and alleged Japanese atrocity. He says Japanese killed civilians, but nowhere in his articles he says “I saw Japanese killing civilians in person”.
Before the battle (~ December 12th 1937)
(Below) This article tells us that the population of Nanking city was initially more than a million, yet at the right before the battle on 13th December, it became only 200K. It means no way the 200K or 300K killing. See Death Toll at Nanking battle.

(Below) This article is important.
1) It tells us all non-combatants were staying within Safety zone at the time of battle on 13th. This is contradictory to the murder case of Xia Shuqin's family where the family was outside of Safety zone.
2) Chinese KMT is the one who burnt down 10 miles radius proximity in Nankin. This makes one wonder why Smythe report conducted survey at proximity of Nanking only for the damage by Japanese.

(Below) Chiang kai-shek/Soong mei-ling cowardly fled away when Chiang told his soldiers to fight to the death in his speech.

(Below) Just article about a battle, not in Nanking.

After the battle (December 13th 1937 ~)
Durdin wrote Japanese atrocity in Nanking in this article. Although Durdin failed to be a first person writing Japanese atrocity after Steel's article, BOTH Durdin and Steel articles wrote a fake/misleading articles as “Five/Six feet high pile of bodies” was made by Japanese, which was actually made on 12th December by Chinese killing each other right BEFORE Japanese entry in Nanking on 13th, known as Yijiang Gate massacre .

(Below) Right column “Civilian Casualties Heavy”. Six feet high was made by Chinese at Yijiang Gate massacre, not Japanese.

Japanese authority criticizes Durdin's NYT article on 18th above as accusing falsely.

Durdin wrote about Yellow River Flood, saying Japanese did it by simply citing Chinese source.
