¶ US’s silence on the criticism against Chiang kai-shek’s inhumane act, Yellow River Flood
Over 2nd Sino-Japanese war, Republic Of China(Chiang kai-shek/Soong Mei-ling) vs Japan, the US media has sided with Chiang all along through the battle of Shanghai and Nanking since the recognition his nation by the US first in 1928 .
On June in 1938, only about 6 months after Nanking battle, Chiang kai-shek, ordered to bomb a dyke of Yellow River to cause a flood to attack Japanese military .
Although Japanese military didn't get a much damage with a flood, its entire proximity was flooded, killing up to a million of Chinese civilians with drowning and starvation While Japanese were struggling with saving Chinese people.
Surprisingly, US media showed no condemnation against this Chiang's inhumane act to his own people. Instead, NY times (Tilman Durdin) introduced ROC 's propaganda saying that Japanese did the flood(1838/06/13). The other article simply showed the serial articles posted by Chiang's wife, Soong mei-ling who should be responsible and blamed for killing Chinese people.
US missionaries were also completely on the side of Chiang and Soong as appeared in an idealized image on Times journal whose publisher Henry Luce was born in China with missionary parents. They were sympathetic to Chiangs and never mentioned their flaw and failure. They were even along with communists, and viewing a poor democratic China invaded by Japan.
I say, this is the typical pattern , namely China's crime and US's bias media spreading anti-Japanese propaganda, that had been happening through the battle in Shanghai and Nanking.

¶ How Japanese newspaper reported
You will find the extreme contrast in how the US and Japanese medias reported Yellow River Flood .
Unlike politically motivated US media idealizing Chiang kai-shek, Japanese media is straight forward. The severe condemnation against Chiang kai-shek and more detail of the magnitude of the damage which was brought to Chinese people and how Japanese rescued them.
[below top] Japanese newspaper, Asahi 1938/06/15 condemning Chang's outrageous act, calling him “Chiang kai-shek (蒋介石), Eternal(永遠) enemy (敵) against human being(人類の)”
[below bottom left] the damage of inhumane act.

¶ How biased US newspaper reported
When the flood happened, NYTimes were showing three sequential posts from Madam Chiang, Soong Mei-ling, the wife of Chiang kai-shek, siding with Republic Of China, ironically who are the very persons ordering to bomb a dyke of liver killing a million of Chinese people.
After learning that it was done by Chiang's kai-shek, the US medias simply described as a tough decision , stayed with Chiang's side, and described Japanese rescue work saving Chinese as Japanese's responsibility.
This tone of US media really tells us who has been responsible for killing Chinese people and causing all kind of mess, and who has been twisting a fact and spreading the biased medias to the world all along at the 2nd Sino-Japanese war (The battle of Shanghai, Nanking).
¶ The hypocrite and ironical layout of newspaper
In NYTimes 1938/06/13, a yellow portion shows Yellow river flood, while a red shows the post from Madam Chiang talking about the idealism for a future of China, when Chiang is responsible for causing a flood killing a million of Chinese people.
